Expectations and Time
Dog training is dog learning. There are no miracles your dog has its own learning curve. Some learn faster than others, just like people. One thing is for sure, the more you put into the training process the more your dog will get out of it.
Most clients can reach the 3rd phase within 14-16 sessions in-person session with homework. This progress relies on you working on training every day with your dog for 15-30 minutes and meeting with us weekly. In our first session, we go over command structure, leash handling, and how to use the flow chart and training log. We call this Foundation Style Dog Training because each foundation is built upon the last. I cannot stress enough that learning takes time. I will not rush dog training, your dog deserves better, I would not rush someone learning a new skill why should I rush a dog learning a new skill?
Please remember that my work does not end when the training session ends. I have around an hour of work to update the training chat, post videos, and get ready for the next session.
Paying for training is an investment in you and your dog. More than 50% of dogs will be rehomed more than once in their life, mostly because of behavioral issues. Do not let your dog become that statistic.
Description of Dog Training Packages
Consultation: We will meet to review our training modalities, your goals, your dog’s behaviors, habitation, health, and training expectations.
In-Home Packages: 4 sessions are done one-on-one with you and your dog. You learn how to train your dog, about leash handling, and leadership. Training is set to build your relationship with your dog. After each session, you will be given homework to do and film progress. Once you have completed the homework, you will schedule a virtual meeting to review the training and build toward the next one-on-one training. Your success is based on your efforts outside of the one-on-one training session.
Dog and Puppy Selection: This process can be done virtually or in person. We will discuss your lifestyle and expectations of the breeds you are looking at, such as a rescue vs breeder. This will narrow down the ideal dog for you.
Pay as You Train: You will be given a digital training log after each session and homework to work on before the next training session. You pay as you train.
Homework and Virtual Sessions: Your homework is to record a training session of all commands we have worked on. We typically meet between sessions so you can continue moving forward with the training. We do not expect perfection on the homework, just that you give it your best. We meet virtually and discuss the video, then we will talk about the training and make any corrections so you can improve and build. This allows you to move through the training much faster. A virtual training session is similar to an in-person training. It does require a little more effort on your part to ensure you have your camera set up or someone to hold a camera/phone to clearly capture you in the video.
Private training: This is done at my home and the package includes everything the in-home package includes.
*Please note additional charges may apply for travel.
